The Daily Grind

Last weekend, we wandered around Bangsar again in hope of a 'foodventure'. We were spoilt for choice, as usual, with the endless rows of restaurants there. After about an hour, we finally came to a decision and decided to just eat here at The Daily Grind.

I've wanted to come here for a long time before, but there were alot of mixed reviews about this place. Some said it was good, others said it was not that nice. Hence, I too had alot of mixed feelings coming to this place. LOL.

The decoration at this place was certainly interesting (I mean which Western restaurant wouldn't look fancy-dancy in Bangsar), with it's dimmed lighting which created a cosy ambience.

Our orders were mostly burgers because this place was supposedly known for it.

The Classic Beef Burger w/ Cheese.
RM 28

The Triple Stack Burger.
RM 37

The G'day Burger bitten into.
RM 35

 Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich
RM 28

Just to sum everything up quick - because I know people hate looking at words :P
The burgers, as you can already see from the pictures, were not bad. Big, juicy and everything a burger could be. There may be rooms for improvement but you'll just have to try it for yourself to know for sure.

I ordered the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich and not any of the burgers above so I can't say much about the latter.

I can however tell you that the Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich definitely has a lot of space for improvement. The steak they used for the sandwich tasted abit like McD's beef patty.
I'm sorry I always use McD as a comparison (hehe) but this time it's because it's necessary in order to express the steak's flavour accurately.

So it had a pretty common flavour which isn't something that would exactly appeal to Malaysians, I reckon. The texture of the panini bread they used for it was a bit to hard, almost like eating a baguette, even the knife had trouble cutting through it.

The fries... tasted like typical store-bought fries. Nothing special about it.
The ketchup and chilli sauce they placed on the table on the other hand, had a distinct herbal taste to it. It tastes like one of the chinese herbal teas my mum would make for us when we were younger.
They claimed that their sauces are self-made and not from the tube, free from colouring and flavouring, so perhaps that's one reason why.

My friends said it was just plain weird but if you do go there, do share with me whether it's a good-weird or just-plain-bad-kinda-weird :P

Their menu however is impressive, with so many varieties of food you'd have a hard time picking what you want!
The price was rather pricey to us because we were only students, so if you're working perhaps this place would be affordable to you.

French Village

Tuesday was Wesak's day and my initial plans were to catch up on assignments, study for French mid terms and basically do some work around the house.

Yes I sound like such a good appreciative student thinking about my studies constantly.

However my mission was interrupted because my friends came up with something better to do - drive up to Genting for a day trip. And so being the good friend I am, I forced my heavy eyes open in the early glimmer of daylight on this precious holiday and dragged my reluctant feet across the cold wooden floor, ready to provide them my wonderful companionship.

HAHA so drama. Just kidding.

I tagged along without a second thought.

Hurray I was so excited to get away from work and home for awhile. I usually don't do things unplanned and I haven't done anything so random  for awhile now, so this just made me even more hyped up about the entire thing.

Before we started our long journey up, we stopped by Thai Thai for lunch.

After an hour's nauseating experience in the car going up the winding road, we finally reached Bukit Tinggi's French Village. It was my first time there so everything looked really beautiful to me. The buildings and the decorations all around made me feel as though I was wandering around in a foreign town.

Nic, who was a friend of Venice came along and snapped many pictures for us.

I guess I shall just let the pictures do the talking for now.

Look at my big brace teeth.
I feel like I'm staring at a monster here. *facepalms*

I just realised my shirt matched my face lol hahahaa.

Sigh if you're staring at this picture and wondering why do my lips look so fat and pouty like a duck, I'm wondering why as well.
It's ever since I put on my braces, my lips just magically grew thicker and thicker.
I hope it goes back to its original size though :/
I was pretty happy with the way it was.
Now I look like some Angelina Jolie wannabe.
fmlfmlfmlfmlfmlfml.

A Second's Glimpse

This week was incredibly hectic. They say time flies when you're having fun right.
Wrong.
Time flies when you have to slave over exams as well.

In a blink of an eye, one week is already gone and my social psychology test is now long forgotten. We were supposed to study 7 chapters for it but in the end only a tiny fragment of what we studied came out.

Not sure if good thing or bad thing.

But I studied only one day before so I guess that was a blessing HAHAHA.

Then the rest of the week I practically slacked because I was so relieved it was over. Now however is time for me to buck up because I'm having mid terms for French on Wed.

Kill me now.

I'm so unorganized even an organizer can't save me.

Woohoo finally got a new bag that looks small but is able to conceal all my junk within.
Whenever I look for bags I consider two things:

1. If its big enough to fit my 1L bottle.
2. If it has alot of extra compartments where I can put my phone, earphones, mint and lady stuff. LOL.

Yes I bring my bottle everywhere I go because I get dehydrated really easily. And once I get dehydrated I get acne, breakouts, itchy skin, and mouth ulcers.

Plus it's always good to use your own bottle compared to buying a plastic bottle everytime you get thirsty and then tossing it into the trash afterwards.

Had a great time being all girly with these two as well.

Which ended with late night cravings at the hawker.
So typically Malaysian.

I love this camera!
It's so clear plus I didn't even have to edit anything because my flaws cant be seen.
How is this even possible.
O_o

Will update about our trip to the Daily Grind next week so stay tuned! :)

Back to Square One

I don't know why, but lately I've been having very bad luck. However, some good luck seemed to always find it's way in my life to neutralise it.

Sounds confusing right?

One example would be from yesterday. I was on my way to church yesterday. I got up my car and was ready to drive out of my friend's place at Tropicana. I couldn't find the exit sign because the entire place was pretty dark and not well litted up.

I was driving slowly till I realised I came to a dead end. So I reversed. I checked my rear mirror and the back seemed to be clear. All I could see were trees and well stuff people put at the roadside lol.

Suddenly I felt an impact and heard a loud thud.
My sensor which was working fine usually, did not beep at all.

I thought I may have hit the divider, however I suddenly saw a man coming into view in my rear mirror. This didn't seem right. I panicked. I stopped my engine and got off the car to look look at what actually happened.

Turned out I crashed into the front of a BMW.

5 Series.

Apparently the car was parked parallel to the divider on the road and since it was a pretty long car, it's head jutted out abit. And due to the fact that the front head was low my mirror did not catch sight of it.

Or rather I didn't catch sight of it because I was short -.-

I know it's probably hard to picture the whole scenario in your head but bear with me. The car had a few scratches on it's bumper and nothing else that was too severe, thank God, but I was terrified.
Because this wasn't any car. It was a BMW.

So after a few phone calls we decided that I would pay the owner when I got back by banking the money in.
The price was understandably double the times a normal scratch on a normal car would've cost. In my head I started mentally calculating all my previous years Ang Pows I had to fork out in order to get the total sum. I just could not afford it even if I didn't use my allowance for a month.

My entire journey to church I was upset and disappointed in myself for being so dumb and clumsy, and I couldn't help but to mentally calculate again and again how much of part time work I'd have to do in order to make up of it.

Just when I was trying to forget about it, the owner called me. I picked up and wondered whether the cost might have increased after he examined it more properly.

He told me that the damage was not as serious as he thought and that I needn't have to pay. I was so relieved I became speechless. I felt a muddle of emotions stirring up in me as I listened to what he had to say.

He might have mistook me as someone who was taking advantage of his kindness. But honestly, I was just overwhelmed with gratitude. I really did not expect him to do something so nice for a random stranger who just ruined his day.

Definitely, this will be the last time I'd be so clumsy with my car. I've learned my lesson that checking the rear mirror isn't enough and that it is also important to turn your head around no matter how sure you feel of the surroundings.

A turn of a head could've saved me from the trouble I caused.

So bad luck? Not-so-bad luck? You decide.

Last word of advice. Never get into trouble with an expensive car.

NEVER.

The guys bought some party stuff in case we wanted to 'party hard'.
HAHA the panda was my favourite.
They even bought Disney Princesses paper cups. And we could choose between that or Strawberry Shortcake.

 Terrible camera and terrible lighting.
So I didn't get to take much pictures at Leon's birthday.

Thus the blurry pictures :(
Didn't want to bring my DSLR cuz it was too heavy, and I'd look like a freak haaha.

Didn't even get to take a picture with the birthday boy cuz he was too busy going around entertaining everyone.
But we all had a great time, and I got to know some really cool people.

OOOH MIDTERMS IS THIS WEEK I'M DEAD.
