Rant On My Lunch At Bait @ Bangsar

Few weeks back I went to Bangsar and I wanted to try something different, so I ended up at this place called Bait with Kristine. Plus we were starving.

It has been opened quite long ago but I never really paid attention to before till that day when their menu caught my eye.

 Not this menu but there was another one which featured oysters and seafood claiming as their best.

 The place was well decorated and everything had that sailor-esque feel to it.

 I ordered the fish which was covered with mango salsa.

While Kristine ordered prawn kebabs served with rice.

Their food presentation could easily get an A, however the taste of their dishes could easily make u take back that A.

First of all, everything was as dry as a dessert. Their fish, their prawns, their rice, even the salsa couldn't save my dehydrated fish.

It's so obvious that these food has probably been kept in their freezer for decades. 

Right now I'm just being melodramatic, but frozen food kept in the freezer for too long ought not to be served to customers.

That's just basic F&B knowledge and it's not like we are NOT paying for the food we eat.

We pay a price and we expect the food's worth to amount to the value we pay.

I'm just so sick of going to places where reviews say that the place is good but when you show up, your experience is completely the opposite of what the review says.

The worse part is, it's not like the food is cheap. NO. The food comes with a crazy price and you're just dumbfounded at how this can cost that much.

The worse part was, the food was almost stale. I felt sick eating their salad.

I would recommend Fish & Co over this any day. That's how bad this place is.

Sorry for being so straightforward recently but this thing about food not living up to its price is really getting to me. 

Where have common restaurant ethics gone?

Day Out In KL // Happy Meal Pastries

Last week was crazy! I spent almost everyday out, and as you can guess, I did alot of window shopping and erm, shopping. On one of the days I went down to KL because Dom had to collect his visa there, so I decided to tag along.

First we went to Pasar Seni and I fell in love with this shop which sells all sorts of tarts there. It's a small shop but many people stopped by to pick up a few pastries, including foreigners.

The shop's name is called Happy Meal.

 Look at the variety of pastries they have here.

Many bakeries sell their cakes and tarts at this price however the size of it is usually really small :/

Here, the price is typical but they are pretty generous with the size of their tarts and their fillings as well.

And everything is fresh considering the number of people pouring in each day, making it necessary for them to keep baking!

We bought the apple cheese crumble tart,walnut tart and the durian tart.

 The walnuts were plentiful! 

The nuts were not bitter or soft, which are the top 2 things I fear when buying walnut tarts.

Basically, it's just really hard to buy a good walnut tart which doesn't have cut-throat-pricing around Malaysia.

But this shop was an exception.

 The apple cheese crumble tart up close.

They have alot of apples inside this tart and I actually tasted flakes of crusty cheese inside.

The filling of the durian tart tasted literally like... durian.

But I like it better than the fresh fruit itself HAHA.

This is cuz the smell is not as overwhelming plus the filling doesn't stink up your breath as much as the real fruit does.

Just a few rinses and the smell would be totally gone.

And what's best, it still tastes like durian haha.

 I felt like a tourist snapping pictures everywhere haha.

 And then of course I had to take a picture of my outfit.

I got this romper from Cotton On, but let me advice you, DO NOT BUY IT.

Two days after I bought it, I went to Cotton On again to look around only to find the sales person working there wearing the exact same romper as mine -.-

I don't get it. 

I know you want to promote your clothes but have you ever thought that perhaps people will be abit intimidated to buy that particular piece of clothing since everyone working in your shop is ALREADY wearing it?

I just don't see the logic.

After that, on this particular day when I was wearing it walking around Avenue K, I suddenly spotted a glimpse of colour which seemed familiar to me.

A girl was wearing it and walking towards my way, so I immediately asked Dom to hide me. LOL

I don't know if it's just me, but I feel really paranoid if I see anyone walking with the same shirt/outfit as me.

Ugh.. this is why I prefer things which have no labels on.

It's less likely people will wear the exact same thing as you.

 Let's just enjoy this outfit while it lasts.

I'm probably never going to wear this out again hahaha :(

Brow Threading // Lunch At Antipodean

Felt really grumpy when I woke up today. Somehow in the morning, everything seemed legit to frump about. The time, weather, traffic and especially the number of slow cars on the road, didn't seem to help. I guess I was just being a grumpy frump because I wasn't where I felt I belonged - my snuggly bed.

Past that, amidst the pile of work and never ending quizzes, I finally got to wind down and have a nice meal with my friends! Ok I crossed out 'nice' because I thought twice of it and felt more like cringing at the thought of the food in playback time.

*shudders*

I'm just being a drama queen LOL. Gosh sometimes I wonder why don't I ever contribute my drama skills to my presentations and stuffs in college. Coming to think of it, I never really got to use it properly.
*falls down to the ground weeping in melancholy*

Alright back to the food. We went to Bangsar planning to eat at Nirwana's. Unfortunately, even at 11.30am there was already a long queue of people standing patiently outside the shop wating to be seated. GAHH. That was the cheapest option crossed out.

So we decided to play safe and dine at somewhere familiar which was Antipodean. Initially their food was not bad but upon returning to their restaurant last two weeks ago, I beg to differ.

The standard of their food pretty much dropped.

I hate it when this happens. Ok tell me it isn't just me:

 Shop starts out with delicious food. 

Shop gets popular.

Shop gets even more popular.

 Shop becomes too busy.

AND THEN

Shop's food quality drops.

Hence, I didn't bother to take much pictures of the food.

The Breakfast set was still fine :)

 The egg was rather dull.

Somehow I remembered it being tastier last time.

Lemon Meringue Pie.

Sorry I took such a miserable picture of it. 

We only remembered to snap one when we were almost done with it.

This was hereby the worse.

The meringue tasted stale, like they've been keeping it in the shop for awhile.

It lacked the fluffiness you'd usually get from eating fresh or well-made meringue.

And it doesn't melt in your mouth.

The lemon filling was tangy and addictive but the crust was just blah.

Ok I'm not sorry for making it look so miserable anymore.

Naaa. Just to make you laugh la.

To be honest the reason I wanted to go Bangsar so desperately was mainly due to my overgrown brows. It was getting out of hand again and I wanted to get it done, but I just didn't know where was a good place to get it shaped.

There are plenty of Indian beauty parlours offering brow threading services, but not all of them have the same quality. Not to mention some are even more painful. Y-OUCH!

I went to this small beauty parlour called First Impression Beauty Parlour. It's a really small shop, so it's easy to miss, right next to KK mart. And in less than 8 minutes, I was done!

The pain was bearable, but I still  teared lol. I was really happy with the results though!

This is me without any brow liner whatsoever on.

Or makeup in that case haha.

I tend to have a small empty gap at the end of my brows haha (not their fault) but other than that, it looks pretty neat.

AND IT'S ONLY RM5!

It can last for about 2-3 weeks before you have to go do it again.

Ok that's it.
I'm gonna go start studying now.
