"Take A Leap"

The other day, I went to the cinema and decided to watch The Secret Life of Walter Mitty.

Somehow when I got home, the movie made me reflect on my life. And I realised in many ways, I was like the main character himself. I wished I did interesting things, but in reality nothing would be done. Often enough, I would daydream about how I'd like to have handled embarrassing matters of the past or even on how I'd become successful one day and etc.

And it hit me.
Life's too short to always make safe choices.

I know it's one of those phrases people hear all the time, with all the YOLO bullshit, which may even come of as 'cliched'. But this really hit me and made me look back upon my achievements in life.

I swear I got my ability, or lack thereof, to be absolutely positively boring from my parents.
They are the most boring bunch on the universe, I... kenot. And due to that, even my decisions end up being the boring-est one.

It was my youngest sister's birthday, and Surprise surprise, we celebrated it at Empire's Jaya Grocer. Instead of opting to try something new, my parents tend to always make the 'safe' choices. As in choosing restaurants which we have been to and tried their food for adequacy. It doesn't matter if we go there almost every other occasion, eg. A lazy Sunday, a random school holiday.

What matters is that it is within that comfort zone.

The thing is my parents aren't the type who take risks, so my sisters are pretty much the same too. I on the other hand, unfortunately, had a little screw loose in my head and was always demanding for change, and for more.

I'm not greedy, but most of the time, I would be mistaken for so. Even at a young age, my parents didn't want me to do anything else but go to school and come home (besides piano which I utterly had zero interest in).

I wanted to go for Taekwondo classes, but was ultimately turned down.
I wanted to learn gymnastics, but was told I was too old - I was only 7.
Then came the time when I wanted a skateboard, my mum thought I was bonkers.
I got chosen selected to participate in the 100m run for sport's day and for all the 6 years I was in primary school, my parents told me it was too troublesome so I never got the chance to go for a single Sports Day.
I wanted to learn dancing but my mum didn't like the idea.

Life was pretty hard on me, not physically but mentally, considering the many dreams I was restricted from. All because of these 'safe' choices.

I guess its an asian thing, or to be more specific, a Chinese thing. Chinese parents are always the problem here. They either push their kids too far front, or back. Some parents push their kids far front to get good results, have a distinction in piano, plus or minus another instrument, and be on top in ballet.

Then there are my parents who push their kids back and want them to only focus in studies, and nothing else because anything else would be inconvenient.

But life is definitely too short to deprive someone, or yourself, from making exciting choices. I am probably gonna be too old soon enough, to even be flexible enough to dance anymore. If I looked back now in 3 years, I would've regretted if I wasn't persistent enough to enrol for dance class and give myself another chance. Because, I guess that was what I have always wanted to do.

And I'm not gonna back down so easily now, even if people laughed at me.

If you've been wanting to do something you really like, do it.
Don't let others tell you otherwise. Coming from a very unsupportive background, I know it is hard because there are times when you look around for emotional support and no one is present.

Instead of listening to all the negative comments, think of when you succeed. No one is gonna tell you 'I told you so' anymore. Make choices which you want, and not those which you are obliged to.

Be your own person this year and start living it.

Untitled

Hi.

I'm sitting here and I'm yawning away though I woke up at 11.30 am this morning, which is technically considered pretty late.

Anyways recently my friend brought me to visit this place in SS14 which has the best fried Laksa I've ever tasted. Ok and also the only fried Laksa that has ever touched my tongue.

But I know it's good because there were no second thoughts the moment I tried it. Haha I don't even think that's a valid reason, but it's something like Love At First Sight -You've never met the person before, you don't even know you're capable of loving someone else but the moment you lay eyes on this random person, everything falls into place and you realise he or she is perfect.

Same concept.

Yes. But of course my experience would be entitled as Love At First Taste.

Before I bore you any further, I shall give you a glimpse of this fantastic dish.

Just look at the amount of ingredients they put in there.
Your eyes can get lost just by looking at it.
Ok. I know I'm a bit slow and that by now, every kid who studies at Inti and Taylors would've probably eaten this dish a gazillion times.
But who cares?
Something this delicious ought to be shared!
It's the price of a Subway though. RM 7.50.
They raised the price when they realised how sell-able this dish was, so it seems.

The shop is called Well Cook Gourmet.
Quite a brightly-lighted shop so it would be hard to miss.

"OMG Are those leaves??"

"Right, right. They are. Erm act cool now."

My new cap!!
Unfortunately it's a little too big for me.

The difference between taking photos at night with my DSLR and my phone cam.
Huge difference.
But then again its rather impossible for me to bring my DSLR all the time, due to it's size and bulk.
So lousy picture qualities ftw!

That's all for now :)

The Burger Factory @ SS15

As most burger lovers should know by now, SS 15 is the one place where you can stumble upon shop after shop which serves a mutual speciality - burgers. Even if you actually tripped and stumbled, chances are the minute you look up, you realised you're in front of a burger shop.

Ok maybe I exaggerated a little. But you get my point. SS 15 has TONS of burger shops.
Today, I summoned my appetite and headed down to The Burger Factory, which was recently opened.

Simple and clean looking decorations which gives this place and extra touch of modernity.
The comfy looking chairs also scored this place brownie points, not to mention how all the furniture were arranged in a manner which did not make the place look crammed up.
Thus, not making you feel obligated to leave right after your meal is finished.
I love how this place actually provided the spaciousness of two floors for customers to enjoy their food.

Their menu.
The best thing about this place is that it's HALAL :D
So everybody can enjoy their burgers.

 Meet The Chic. RM 13.90
No seriously, that's the burger's name.

 Kiddie Chicken. RM 5.90
The most scrumptious looking kiddie burger I've seen in my life.
I hope this serves as a wake up call to McD's happy meal.
It's basically a grilled chicken breast with melted Cheddar cheese on top, Fry sauce, lettuce and tomatoes.

 Texas.
Certainly one of the few interesting looking ones, consisting of a deep fried chicken chop as their patty, caramelized onions, grilled pineapple, chicken pepperoni, ham, and cheddar cheese smothered in Hickory smoke sauce and Caesar dressing.

 Cheese N Cheese.
One of the basic burgers which you can never go wrong.
It has their very own grilled cheesy patty, Double Cheddar cheese, gherkin, caramelized onions and covered with Fry sauce for that extra burst of flavour.
This is somehow just like another double cheese burger.
So do not expect too much if you were opting for something special but ended up ordering this all-time- favourite creation.

 The Americano.
This is definitely a burger which I would label as one of the simple Classics.
But of course, it still has a highlight which would be the Sunny Side Up oozing out the moment your teeth touches the yolk.

 Anything w Chicken.
I guess the sight of the chicken meat poking out does not even require me to elaborate further on this burger.

 The Skunk.
Like it's name, it stinks.
But of course with the pungent odour of blue cheese, not fart.
This is absolutely only for those who are well exposed to cheese and has an appreciation of blue cheese.
And for that, a certain amount of understanding on the term is inevitably necessary.

Blue cheese: cheese containing veins of blue mould, such as Stilton and Danish Blue.

In other words, it's mouldy cheese.

Just a warning to those who want to try it regardless, this burger might smell a tad bit like vomit, because of how it is truly generously packed with Blue cheese.

 Behold.
The Volcano.
This burger looks simple but the mixture of ingredients created a splendid blend of aromatic flavours.
Beef bacon, pepperoni, and a Sunny Side Up all on top of a big fat grilled patty, sprinkled with jalapeno and spicy tomatoes, topped with Hot Sauce, Salsa and Fry sauce.
The patty was a distinctive surprise.
Instead of the usual bland flavour, which I expected (after eating in so many burger places which serves beef burgers), it was incredibly tasty.
The entire burger was juicy and luscious, though it can get pretty messy.

In fact, most of their burgers here will have your fingers covered in sauce, due to their extreme generosity with sauce, in a good way.
But hey, I'm not complaining.
So be prepared to get messy.

A first date with a guy/girl whom you're trying to impress would however, not be that suitable here.
Unless your crush finds tomato and mayo on your face a turn-on, I would suggest you to go somewhere else.

The lighting is always so bad when it comes to taking a picture of me.
SIGH
Bad luck oh bad luck.

And then, there are the people who love to photobomb me by trying to block my existence in the picture.

Couples.
And their sweetness sometimes...

Just to wrap up everything, this is a burger place which will keep you coming back for more.
If you're not too keen on burgers, they do serve a variety of western food as well, such as pizza, pasta and hot dogs.
And if that appetite of yours is still unsatisfied, there's always dessert.

Boredom

My title probably summed up everything I was gonna talk about here. I've been really boring lately. And actually, it doesn't really bother me. It just bothers me when I go online and see other people having fun with their lives, posting pictures of parties after more parties.

Bleh.

While I'm here at home lying on my bed waiting for my friends to come up with something lol. I guess the point of social media is to try and outshine each other on how 'wonderful' and 'fun' everybody's life is.

I mean people do not take photos of themselves sitting on a toilet bowl reading the newspaper and updating that on their FB status now, do they.

Oh and have I mentioned that reading the newspaper has been getting increasingly depressing lately.
The prices of everything has increased man. Everything BUT wages. Oh and the value of MYR.

Stepping out of the door has gotten more tiring to think about now, even for someone like me who doesn't like to stay home. The normal things that would run through my head nowadays would be like: 'Aiyo, go here go there need to spend how much on petrol ar. Waseh got shorter route? Aduh toll price also increase hor, cannot cannot must take longer route. Eh but jam how ar?'

Yes, so unglamorously Malaysian haha.

But life must go on.

....

If you're a fan of Chinese food or Hokkien Mee, you'd probably like to know about this place. My dad brought us here one chilly night for dinner, and everything here was really not bad. Of course unless you have qualms with its environment being an outdoor coffee shop.

This place is famous for their Hokkien mee!
If you ever noticed, there's a kind of bitter taste to the noodle which some people call it in cantonese as 'yok sui mei', which is the reason why I don't really like this dish.
However, this Hokkien mee was different!
The bitter taste of the noodle is almost zero and the sauce which it was cooked in was light and wasn't thick, gooey or sticky like how some coffee shops cook this dish.
Believe it or not, this was actually the first time I was willing to eat these noodles.
And I couldn't get enough of it haha.

 Fried stingray.
The sweetness of the stingray was maintained and it was marinated well.
Not bad, but depends mainly on your luck.
This time I went, the stingray was fresh and fried nicely.

 Sweet and Sour Crabs
Yummy.

It gets even better when you deep these Mantou-s in the crab sauce!

Here's the address if you're interested in paying this place a visit :)

 My ootd on Sunday.
Faux leather vest from H&M :D
Litas from HuiiCloset

The pictures aren't that clear because it was taken using my phone camera :(
