First Time Contouring

Just a head's up. This post is gonna just be full of my selfies HAHAHA.

Yes. My church's Youth Rally is next week and everything's been more chaotic than ever. There's so much left to do with such a short amount of time left, I'm actually quivering at the thought of it..

Anyway, I have some free time now and I don't feel so tensed anymore, so here's just what I've been doing lately!

Everyone already knows makeup does wonders.

Ya but I never thought it could apply to me. I guess most of us would have the 'it will never happen to me' mentality, and same thing applied to me.
So out of curiosity, I tried to use a random brown colour on my eyeshadow palette to do some contouring on my nose.

Because no duh, Sherlock, my asian nose is pretty flat and non existent to the human eye. And very often we get bombarded with pictures of asian girls who have the most perfect noses.

So I thought to myself, why not give it a shot and see whether I can turn out to look like I actually have a nose in photos too. Without editing of course.

HAHA. I. FEEL. SO. VAIN.
Lol I thought seeing my nose looking so good in photos would be something that was once in a lifetime, so I just snapped away.
And it isn't everyday I get to look like this.
Somehow I couldn't recognize myself when I looked back at all these pictures.
I mean honestly it doesn't look like me o.o
I don't look like that in real life unfortunately.

So girls, don't worry.
Whatever problems you think you have on your face is beyond saving grace, makeup fixes almost everything. Not that I'm encouraging you to use makeup, but I just wanted to remind everyone, again, that what you see in pictures aren't real.

It's all an illusion and a combination of well-play with colours.
Don't feel down because of a stupidly stunning picture.
I know I've been there, and still go through that at times.
But, the key is to always snap out of it and realize that anything could've been done to these images.

-

Anyway this was all unedited, without the help Meituxiuxiu and all the beautifying apps.
But then again, this was when my skin was better :(

Now I'm breaking out to the core with red scars all over my face.
#badluckhons

Alright thats all for now!
 I'm late again T_T

Information Is Not Knowledge

Hey everyone! I know it's been so long since I've been here *gasps*.  I finally decided to update this space before I forget or procrastinate again.

I have been working on a few things recently and it really took almost all my free time away. The first one would be looking for a place to study. I think I'm considered as a 'drop-out' (or not haha), because I just decided to stop after much contemplation. It's a really long story on how I came to that decision on just stopping my studies altogether, but I hope it was the right choice and even if it wasn't, it was the best option available.

So I stopped because mainly I wanted to resume my studies overseas. I wanted to gain experience not only in Malaysia but elsewhere as well, be it New Zealand, US or actually anywhere at all. The problem was, education in those places are expensive and if I chose to continue the semester which I dropped, chances are I wont have the opportunity to further my studies elsewhere.

I know some may ask why not just complete your studies in Malaysia, but it has always been my lifelong dream to step out of my comfort zone, into the wild and gain new experiences. Haha now I sound like an animal from the show Madagascar trying to escape the zoo.

My mum was talking to me the other day about my education, future and my plans. Then she started talking about knowledge and this quote she read by Einstein.

To say I was left in awe by this quote would be an understatement.
I was awestruck. Dumbfounded. Mind blown.

The words kept playing in my head again and again. I always thought information was something to do with knowledge. Like whatever we read or heard, I always thought it was of some value close to knowledge. But now I realise, all these little bits and pieces of information we obtain from others are nothing without experience.

There's only so much a teacher can teach and a student can absorb. And now it finally makes sense why many of us feel that half the things we study for exams cannot be applied after that.

Heck, some of us can't even remember what we studied after our exams because everything we have been focusing on was... gathering information. We were so focused in trying to accumulate all these information in our brain we forgot to pay attention on how to apply it. We get so caught up with memorising stuff that most of the time when a question which we know the answer to is twisted in another way, we become stunned in shock, not knowing how to respond.

I guess I really want to experience places as they are, and not just gather blank information on all of them thinking I know what is out there, when in actual fact I don't. This is why I have been yearning to further my studies overseas. At the end of the day, it's experience that counts.

I just thought this was something really interesting to share. Hopefully you were as mind boggled as me hearing about this quote.

Just some photos I took while I was away.

Went to Anselm's hou- *cough* mansion *cough*, for a small bbq party.

We celebrated Gillian and Anthony's birthday there as well.

We didn't get to swim because it rained and according to Anselm, the water wasn't that clean.
It was a nice place to take pictures though.

Besides that, I have been helping some of my friends from IACT for their assignments.
I have a feeling that they have alot of assignments right now because my friends asked me to help be a 'model' for them.
And no one would ask me to model for them unless their condition is critical LOL.

I can't model gaisss. For nuts.

I mean I'd like to think I can, but the actual fact which will always remain a fact is that I just don't look that good in the camera.

For some reason Blogger makes my photos a little more yellow than it is.

My sister says I look scary here haha.
I couldn't really smile because otherwise there was a chance my braces would be peeping, and I know most photographers/ people who looks at photographs do not like braces, so I didn't dare take the risk.
Therefore all I did was try to contain the metal in my mouth.
Sigh, brace face problems.

Yeap that's pretty much what I have been doing, looking for universities, going for gatherings, helping fellow friends in their assignments, serving the youth ministry in church and oh, I started dancing again!

Going back to Urban Groove for classes but right now it's pretty hard to juggle as the biggest event of the year for my Youth Ministry - The Youth Rally, is in 3 weeks. There's so much to prepare, and so much things that need to be done in this 3 weeks and I'm freaking out. We are having practices like 4 times a week now and next week I think we will be having everyday practices. Not to mention it's time for a spring cleaning around the house now that Christmas is coming.

I will try to update soon, as I will be off to camp for this weekend! :D So excited. I just hope I don't get fat when I come back with their 6-meals-a-day plan -.-"

Did I mention I bought a new phone too HAHA. So much to update. Till the next post! Will talk about my new phone then.

I'm Not You're Plan B

"Do you ever feel like breaking down?
Do you ever feel out of place?
Like somehow you just don't belong and no one understands you."

I can't take it anymore. This feeling I've been having. You know like how you can just go to this one friend who will hear you out patiently whenever you've problems?

Well I used to have a friend who always had my back. I used to be able to go to that one person when I'm down, or when I had problems or when I just needed talk. However, that person is no longer here. That person is now far far away, with 7 hours time difference, and with his own life and problems to be bothered with. I shall call that person N.

After many life changing experiences, I started to live by this motto 'Never put all your eggs into one basket'. Which basically means never pin your hopes and expectations onto one person, because if the person fails (if the basket breaks) you will be left with nothing (you will be left with no eggs).

And so I lived cautiously, I never shared much with other friends my problems or what I'm going through. Because in my experience no one can be trusted completely, and you would know that too.

So I became 'just friends' with everyone. And I felt happy because they did not know anything about me. I felt happy because I never had any expectations on anyone, and they couldn't let me down. I smiled most of the time around people and I guessed it worked.

Guess my whole show was a success.

The thing was unknowingly, unconsciously, I actually placed everything I had in N. All my hopes, all my desires, all my worries, I shared it with N. Because N was capable of giving me advice no conventional person would have thought of. To a point where I felt as if he was my guardian angel.

Despite being so careful, I realised now I was treading on thin ice. Since he barely has time for himself now or for small chats, I decided I didn't want to burden N anymore with my petty qualms. So instead, I tried telling some of my friends here about it, not everything but just a little to see their reaction. But their reactions were disheartening. There was no reply.

Ever felt like that before? Like you were there for this person every single damn time, but when its your turn there's not a shadow to be seen?

When they have problems they pour everything out to you and you listen, and tell them everything will be alright. You don't judge them even if their problems seemed like an atom compared to what you're going through. But when you try telling them something, they act like you don't exist. They do the exact opposite of what you did for them.

I feel like I'm nothing more than a backup plan.
But have you ever thought that backup plans don't always succeed and need backups too?

So right now, I just feel so small and alone. I have no one to go to and no one to talk to. I don't have the mood to do anything except sleep. I don't feel like waking up, I don't feel like getting out. I've just been staring at my computer blankly. Sharing it here was my only avenue I could let off some steam.

This feels like when I was 15 all over again.

Guess I just don't belong no matter how hard I try.

Rant On My Lunch At Bait @ Bangsar

Few weeks back I went to Bangsar and I wanted to try something different, so I ended up at this place called Bait with Kristine. Plus we were starving.
It has been opened quite long ago but I never really paid attention to before till that day when their menu caught my eye.

Not this menu but there was another one which featured oysters and seafood claiming as their best.

The place was well decorated and everything had that sailor-esque feel to it.

I ordered the fish which was covered with mango salsa.

While Kristine ordered prawn kebabs served with rice.
Their food presentation could easily get an A, however the taste of their dishes could easily make u take back that A.

First of all, everything was as dry as a dessert. Their fish, their prawns, their rice, even the salsa couldn't save my dehydrated fish.

It's so obvious that these food has probably been kept in their freezer for decades.

Right now I'm just being melodramatic, but frozen food kept in the freezer for too long ought not to be served to customers.

That's just basic F&B knowledge and it's not like we are NOT paying for the food we eat.

We pay a price and we expect the food's worth to amount to the value we pay.

I'm just so sick of going to places where reviews say that the place is good but when you show up, your experience is completely the opposite of what the review says.

The worse part is, it's not like the food is cheap. NO. The food comes with a crazy price and you're just dumbfounded at how this can cost that much.

The worse part was, the food was almost stale. I felt sick eating their salad.

I would recommend Fish & Co over this any day. That's how bad this place is.

Sorry for being so straightforward recently but this thing about food not living up to its price is really getting to me.

Where have common restaurant ethics gone?

The Fancy Breakfast Club

It was a beautiful morning and we decided to have our breakfast in a special manner for once. As the name suggests, this place was indeed fancy enough for our liking.

The interior decoration had that rustic beauty.
Everything was simple yet it had that sophisticated antique look to it.

There was a bread platter which served bread straight from the oven.
Warm, crunchy on the outside but soft on the inside, complete with wholegrain goodness.

Orange juice was free flow.

We were served a cheese platter to begin with.

Mueslis and yoghurts were free flow too.

Potato Potage.
Hearty potato and leak soup with a smoked chicken sandwich.

Beef Brisket.
Crouton served with braised beef brisket, vegetables and petit fried egg.

Salmon Tartine.
Brown toast smothered with mashed peas, poached salmon, capers and a hint of radish and raw red onions.

Pancake "Hedgehog"
Fluffy pancakes served together with chocolate sprinkles and maple syrup on the side, topped with red berries and homemade chocolate spread.

Overall - as you can see, the pictures of the food served speak for itself. The theme of the menu when we were there was 'Starry Night' inspired by Van Gogh. And this was everything on their menu.

How this place works is that every month they have a different menu, all inspired by individual themes. There are usually 4 choices of mains on their menu for a typical weekday breakfast and an additional two choices of desserts for their weekend brunch.

The food was great and the way they presented their food was remarkable, somehow giving us a glimpse of fine dining. I liked their concept, where customers can enjoy their vintage ambience while having their breakfast.

Nonetheless, I wasn't really satisfied.

Reason being that it was pricey, and in my opinion, I felt the menu was just above the average line. In their website, they claimed that we will have a semi buffet platter when all we had that was truly 'buffet-styled' was their bread. And their orange juice.

The mueslis and yoghurts are refillable as well, but you have to request it from the waiter. As you know, most Malaysians have a large appetite especially for the first meal of the day, yet we are sometimes shy creatures when it comes to asking for more. So having to ask the waiter 10 times for their muesli/yoghurt because the portion is just so small is rather embarrassing.

Hence, that just kinda cancelled out the buffet part for their mueslis and yoghurts.

Seriously, we thought there might have at least been a round cake on the buffet platter for dessert (I mean cmon it's breakfast!) or some milk and cornflakes or even a small platter of cubed fruits.

Moreover we had to pay RM 38, which is not a small figure for just a tiny meal. We even felt like eating banana leaf rice right after that, that was how hungry we were left.

Besides that, their location was so damn hard to find that it wasn't even the address they listed on their blog. After searching for them for about an hour, believing that we would somehow miraculously see their signboard, we finally called them and they told us they moved.

For some reason, they didn't mention that this place was actually a house and had no signboard in that phone call.

The only reason we found the place was because we saw a girl in a fancy outfit coming out of her fancy Benz, walking with a few people into this house.

I read many reviews and NONE clarified the exact location, nor hinted that it had no signboard.

Food

Above average, decent. Better than many restaurants in Bangsar. However, the menu wasn't special or mind-blowing. Portion was small.

Service

Great, very friendly and helpful.

Price

The price is RM 38 (used to be RM 32) for their weekday breakfast and RM 60 for their weekend brunch.
Worth for a one-time experience. That's all.
Oh and also worth it if you just want to take pictures for Instagram purposes hehe.

Would I return?

No.
For RM 38, I can get a pretty decent meal elsewhere which is filling and great in quality.
Just with a not-as-fancy ambience.

Location

Anyway, if you want to check this place out, do please RING them to get their exact location.

It can get pretty packed during the weekends :)

That's all!

I am probably one of the few people who are anal about little problems like this, and may come off as over-critical but I'm just concerned with people and their wallets.
If you can afford it, then sure why not! :D

But for other people who are clueless looking for a decent place to dine (like how I was), here is the cold hard truth, not sugar-coated in any way.

Hope this review was helpful!
Thank you for reading! :))
